Ingredients

  • 1 pound uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 package (1 pound) hot dogs, sliced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1-1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°. Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain; set aside.
  2. In a large sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add hot dogs; cook until lightly browned, 1-2 minutes per side. Remove with slotted spoon; set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add flour, stir until smooth. Gradually add milk and bring to a simmer; cook until thickened, 3-4 minutes, whisking occasionally. Stir in cheddar cheeses, cream cheese, salt, pepper and mustard until well combined. Stir in cooked macaroni and hot dogs.
  4. Transfer mixture to a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Bake until cheese is bubbly and edges are golden brown, 15-20 minutes.
