Honey Mustard Beer Cheese Fondue

Description

Melt together Swiss and cheddar cheeses with beer and mustard for a hearty snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 (12-ounce) bottle or can of pilsner
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 6 ounces swiss cheese, shredded (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 6 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons honey mustard
  • pretzels, cubed bread, sliced summer sausage or salami, roasted fingerling potatoes

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Gradually whisk in flour. Cook, whisking constantly, until lightly browned, about 1 minute.
  2. Gradually whisk in beer and heavy cream. Cook, whisking constantly, until sauce has thickened and begins to bubble, 3 to 4 minutes. Slowly add cheeses, whisking constantly, allowing each addition to melt and become incorporated before adding more. Whisk in garlic powder, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper. Swirl in honey mustard and serve.
